The course “Neural Networks and Their Applications in Research” is aimed at graduate students across all faculties of Lomonosov Moscow State University, as long as they possess programming skills and neural network methods can be used in their research for data mining purposes.
Duration: 2 semesters (one academic year):
- Spring semester: 15 lectures combined with practical programming assignments on a previously studied topic.
- Fall semester: the graduate student writes an article on a subject of their choice under the supervision of a course instructor acting as a second research advisor.
In class, graduate students are introduced to the most up-to-date neural network topics, such as:
- Linear classifier
- Classic ML Ensembles Clustering
- Feature engineering
- Convolutional neural networks (CNN)
- Training. Initialization, optimization, batch norm
- CNN architectures
- Training on a small dataset
Top achievers in the course will be eligible for a personal scholarship.
